一、是在水熱處理中，由于木材孔隙很多，導熱能力很差，因此熱量是由表面向逐漸傳遞，溫度也是由表面向逐漸降低，形成溫度梯度，這時如果加熱速度過快，就會出現(xiàn)木材表面部分溫度高，已受熱膨脹，而木材內(nèi)部溫度較低，未膨脹或膨脹甚少的現(xiàn)象，當木材內(nèi)部的應(yīng)力超過了木材橫紋方向的抗拉強度時，就引起木段端頭的縱向開或是環(huán)狀開裂，嚴重影響防火板的質(zhì)量以及出板率。

二、是木段從煮木池中取出，如果冷卻速度過快，也是會產(chǎn)生同樣的缺陷，出現(xiàn)這種缺陷以后的木材會影響防火板質(zhì)量，導致防火板價格會受到較大的影響。
